Home Swim Meet Processes and Procedures
Sonoma Ranch pool, 170 Ruidosa Downs
Arrival time at 3:15. Warm-up is promptly at 3:45. Meet starts at 5:00 p.m. UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED IN E-MAIL COMMUNICATION
The meets can be 3 - 4 hours long. We request that as many team members as possible stay to the end to assist with quick clean up so we can all depart quickly.
Swim Meet Set Up
We will set up for our home meet on Tuesday mornings between 8 - 9 a.m. Please bring your chairs and shade tents to set up at this time. Setting up our large, bulky items earlier in the day will accomplish three important things: choice of seating location; those within reasonable walking distance can walk to the pool later; those that have to drive to the pool will be able use our MANDATORY parking plan outlined below.
Parking
Our parking procedures are MANDATORY to ensure we leave adequate parking space for the visiting team, so it eases traffic headaches for the rest of our community that access the Summit, Villages and Reserve neighborhoods. If you are within reasonable walking distance to the pool, PLEASE walk to the meet that afternoon. If you are driving to the meet, please park in The Springs subdivision beginning in front of the address rock at 8606 Magdalena Run (house right next to the ditch), along ONE side of the road ONLY, up to the mailboxes. PLEASE use the sidewalk that leads to the Recreation Center to get to the pool. The Springs is the subdivision off of Sonoma Pkwy, in between Primrose School and The Summit. The gate will be open. After entering the gate, immediately take a right onto Magdalena Run and follow the street around. Once this area is filled, you will need to use the regular parking area surrounding the Rec. Center. Please remember parking is ONLY allowed on one side of Magdalena Run and Ruidosa Downs.
Before arrival
1.) Write your child's first name and age on their back, right shoulder
2.) Write your child's event #, heat, lane, and stroke info. on their inner forearm with a sharpie marker.
PLEASE MAKE SURE TO LEAVE AN AREA ON THE SWIMMER’S INNER FOREARM WITHOUT SUNSCREEN SO THE MARKER WON’T RUB OFF
The heat sheet and entries by name will be posted on the "Meets" page. It is very important swimmers arrive with this information written on their arm. Complete instructions and an example of EXACTLY how it should look are as follows:
These are an example of heat sheet entries - Medley Relay, Individual Event, and Freestyle Relay:
The event number, gender, event distance, and stroke/relay are listed first; The columns with lane, name or team, age, seed time, etc. are listed next; The heat number, etc. are listed under that
The numbers listed under the "Lane" column is the lane number
For the Medley Relay the number next to the swimmer's name is the number position, AND STROKE, the swimmer is doing in that relay: 1 = Backstroke; 2 = Breaststroke; 3 = Butterfly; 4 = Freestyle
For the Freestyle Relay the number next to the swimmer's name is the number position the swimmer is doing in that relay. Freestyle relay, all 4 swimmers swim freestyle stroke.
This is how it should look: E = Event number; H = Heat number; L = Lane number; S = Stroke
Please abbreviate the strokes as follows:
Free = FR
Breast = BR
Back = BK
Butterfly = FL
100 SC Meter IM = IM
100 SC Freestyle Relay = FRLY and the position number swimming
200 SC Freestyle Relay = FRLY and the position number swimming
100 Medley Relay = MRLY, stroke, AND position number swimming
200 SC Medley Relay = MRLY, stroke, AND position number swimming
Swim Meet Arrival
Please follow the set up and parking procedures to help our team, the Sonoma Ranch residents in the surrounding area, and the visiting team. Please arrive for the meet at 3:15 p.m. Warm-up is PROMPTLY at 3:45 UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED IN E-MAIL COMMUNICATION. All Renegade swimmers need to enter through the main entrance and immediately check-in with our coaches BEFORE going to the team area or warming up. Team/Ready Bench Area: If you are unable to make the WARM UP, WILL BE LATE, or your attendance changes unexpectedly, please text Linda at 210-269-3042 IMMEDIATELY. The relays are the very first events and no shows and late arrivals can cause an entire relay team to miss their event. This is very disappointing to the other team members. ALL swim team members will sit in the team area, which is to the right of the back pool. NO EXCEPTIONS! This has been one of our biggest challenges is trying to track down swimmers from areas other than the team area.
Wear your Renegade shirt and make sure the swimmer's name is on it!
We will have coaches helping in the team/ready bench area to call swimmers’ names to prepare for their event. It is VERY, VERY important that you review with your swimmer(s) the event numbers that they are entered in and remind your swimmer(s) to listen for their event number and/or name to be called. REMEMBER – the coaches will only be calling swimmers from the team area. If your swimmer is not in the team area they will miss their event. The coaches are not able to search the whole pool area for swimmers.
